Why is my dog coughing at night?
Night coughing may become more noticeable while resting or lying down. Repeated nighttime coughing, especially with reduced stamina or breathing effort, should be checked by a veterinarian.
Why does my dog’s cough sound like a honk?
A dry goose-like honk can come from the upper airway or windpipe. It is more common in some small breeds, but the sound alone cannot confirm the cause.
What is reverse sneezing?
Reverse sneezing is a brief episode of rapid, noisy inhalation. Most episodes stop on their own, but frequent or changing episodes should be recorded and discussed with a veterinarian.
Can throat irritation make a dog cough?
Dry air, smoke, collar pressure, repeated barking, or other irritants can trigger a short dry cough. Persistent or worsening coughing needs veterinary assessment.
When should I worry about my dog’s cough?
