Why Dogs Pant

Dogs use panting primarily to release heat. Rapid airflow over moist surfaces in the mouth and upper airway supports evaporative cooling.

Activity & Excitement

Breathing becomes faster as oxygen demand and heat production rise. Recovery should trend toward the dog's baseline after activity stops.

Heat & Humidity

Anatomy
